EASTER BUNNY TRAIN & EGG HUNT

The popular Easter Bunny Train is a sell out every year! It is a newer tradition in the Hocking Valley, but has become a favorite of kids of all ages. We have two trains that depart on Saturday, April 15th: one at 10:00 a.m. and the second at 1:00 p.m. Each train travels past Haydenville, before returning to Nelsonville. Along the way back, the train will stop at the Easter Bunny’s secret hiding place where the egg hunt will take place! Areas for different age groups will be set up, and at the announcement to go, all of the kids will take off through their assigned areas and collect Easter eggs. Inside the eggs will be prizes and candy to be picked up at the prize tent. Once all of the activities are completed, everyone will re-board the train for the remainder of the trip back to the Nelsonville Depot.
Tickets for children are the same price across each category. But they are broken up into age groups to help us properly place everyone in the appropriate egg hunt location. If you have questions, feel free to contact our call center at 740-249-1452.

OHIO’S FRIENDLIEST TRAIN ROBBERY

Our ever-popular Ohio’s Friendliest Train Robbery trains are family-friendly and feature a group of bandits on horseback making an attempt to rob the train. Now, before you think, “Rob the train?!”, we distribute play money to everyone before the train departs. The “robbers” then come through and collect the play money once they’re able to stop the train. Guns are used but only with blanks, and we maintain a safe atmosphere for everyone aboard! These trains tend to sell out quickly, so make sure you reserve your seat as early as possible! We have three Robbery Trains scheduled for 2017: June 17th, July 8th, and August 5th. All three Robbery trains depart the Nelsonville Depot at 6:00 p.m.

ALL-CABOOSE TRAIN

On September 2nd, we will pull grab all of the cabooses that are privately-owned (as each owner allows at least) and operate our annual all-caboose. Usually we have about five cabooses in the train’s consist. Departing the Nelsonville Depot at 11:00 a.m., the train operates to East Logan and return with photo run-by’s (where everyone has the opportunity to de-train and photograph the train passing by before re-boarding) along the way. Seating is incredibly limited (each caboose holds no more than ten people; some are fewer than that), so be sure to reserve your seat as soon as possible! A great trip for any railfan!

SANTA TRAIN

Our longest-running annual event, the Santa Train has been a long-standing family tradition for over three decades! These ever-popular trains begin Saturday, November 25th and continue each Saturday and Sunday through Sunday, December 17th. Two trains depart the Nelsonville Depot round-trip to East Logan each Saturday and Sunday during that time at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. We will also have an evening departure time of 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd and 9th. Each train features the same theme–Santa gets on board the train and visits with each child as the train traverses the historic (and with any luck, snow-covered) Hocking River Valley. Each coach is decorated, heated, Christmas music plays throughout the train over the audio system, and after Santa’s visit, each child receives a special candy cane treat! Make sure your child or grandchild brings his or her list to share with Santa! These are incredibly popular and do tend to sell out, so order as early as possible to secure your spot!
