The Hocking Valley Scenic Railway was started in 1972 and continues to
provide a family-friendly atmosphere through our regular seasonal
weekend trains as well as our special event trains like the
always-popular Easter Bunny and Santa Trains! We are a 501c3 non-profit
organization operated by a dedicated group of volunteers, and our
mission is to restore and operate historical railroad equipment for the
general public.
As your take your train ride with us, you'll be treated to a ride like
no other. Our equipment includes a collection of diesels from the 1950s
and 1970s, while our coaches range from 1917 to the 1960s! We also have
a steam locomotive currently undergoing restoration to full operation.
Along the route, you'll be able to take in the view of the historic
Hocking River Valley between Nelsonville and Logan. These include the
historic company town of Haydenville, remnants of the once-prosperous
Hocking Canal, the remaining brick kilns of the Nelsonville Brick
Company, and the Hocking River itself as it meanders through the valley.
