Typically yes, but we do have extra Fall Foliage Trains on Thursdays and Fridays in October. Weekday trains normally operate on a charter basis for tour groups, school groups, etc. There is no published schedule available for these trains. Our regular trains operate at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from Memorial Day Weekend to the last weekend of September and 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in October. We also operate special event trains throughout the year as well. Please check our homepage or click on “Train Rides” to see what we have coming up.

We offer military discounts to the active/retired military personnel on our Memorial Day Train. One free ticket per military member with military ID on that train only. We also offer discounts to active/retired military personnel on all other trains in the form of the Senior rate (when ordering, select the Senior rate for only the active/retired personnel; proof of service may be required when picking up your tickets).

You may purchase tickets at any time during the year for that season (cannot purchase for the next year at this time). Tickets can not be purchased beyond the current operating season. Once tickets have been ordered, they will be held at the Nelsonville Depot on the date of departure. You must have a confirmation form or some form of ID ready to pick up the tickets. Tickets are not mailed out. Also, please be aware that your bank/credit card statement will show “FareHarbor” if purchased online. It’s how we’re able to even offer this option at all.

You will preferably need a copy of the confirmation if ordered online. Otherwise, at least one form of ID will need to be on-hand to pick up the tickets. Please note that your confirmation is not a ticket and that you MUST come into the Depot to pick up paper tickets to board the train.

During the summer and fall, both open and enclosed cars are on the train. Only one coach is air-conditioned and may or may not be on the train. Its availability is on the train is not known by the customer service staff until the date of departure.

No. All tickets are good for any available seat and car on the train. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

No. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended to have a member of your party secure a seat or seats while you pick up the tickets in the depot.

No food or beverages are provided during the train ride. We do offer non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks in our gift shop though. You may bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages on board the train with you. If you do not have anything with you when you arrive, there are several fast-food restaurants in Nelsonville, as well as the Starbrick BBQ next door at the Rocky Outlet.

We do have some picnic tables around the depot that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You do not need to notify the depot staff about securing a table and tables are not available for reservation. Food and non-alcoholic drinks are permitted on the train as well.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, all trains are round trip and travel the same tracks to and from the depot (there is no “circle tour”–same sights up and back). Please try to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. If you or a member of your party are running late due to traffic or some other circumstance, we cannot guarantee that the train can be held and a refund will not be given. If you need to cancel your reservation, please email us 24 hours before your reservation date at [email protected].

There are three parking lots you can use. One with an entrance off of Canal Street, another parking lot with gravel that has two handicap spots, and one that is behind our Depot (Please note that this one is only open to the public on weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

We highly recommend that you use the restrooms in our Depot. We do, however, have at least one restroom on our train for emergency use, but sometimes we have trains that can accommodate 400 passengers with two additional restrooms.
